In many ways, this is a hard question. We don’t think about love as something that is important although we know it is.
When thinking about this question, you might feel stumped. I know I did. Love has been a big part of my life and in many ways, I have shown my love for multiple people.
But why is it important?
In one day, how often do you show love? In my average day, I show my love to sleeping, school, by helping random strangers when they need help, my family when I call about their day, to my friends when I talk to them. On any occasion, I show my love for anyone more times than I can count.
That is why I feel so stumped thinking about this question. This fundamental thing, that’s apart of me, I show to anyone that I see in a day, and I don’t know why it’s important.
I wanted to answer the question but I had no clue where to start so I asked my roommate why she thought love was important.
She said that love to her was a safe spot. That when you love someone and they love you, you have an opportunity to be your true self.
I think that she is correct. Feeling safe in a world that is increasingly becoming more and more unsafe is something that is important, and if love makes her feel that way then that is amazing.
She then asked me in return, why is love important?
I feel that love is important because it is who I am. I am always going to be the type of person that wants to help others and be kind because I love people. If I couldn’t be that person I don’t think that I would want to live.
That is why love is important to me. I need love to survive.
I need to love others and make myself the best possible person I can be not only so I can confidently tell my Heavenly Father that I have loved others as he would want me, but so I can be myself. A person who has a big heart that she will give to anyone if they ask. And I love that about myself.
Think about why you think love is important. It’s okay if you can’t come up with it right away because even I couldn’t. When it’s an important subject like this it is fine to wonder about it a little more, just to see what you can find out about it.
