Three Ways to Help Others Find Motivation

Finding motivation in yourself is hard.

We make dreams and goals of who we want to be and sometimes it can be hard to remind ourselves of those dreams. It is important to have people in our lives who can remind us of that and help to motivate us.

How can we do that for others?

It may seem like a hopeless task but I have narrowed it down to three points.

Help them find passion in the small things

When I was in junior high/high school my mom found it hard to motivate me to do homework so I could succeed. We tried everything from to-do lists to rewarding me with something after I had completed my homework.

Whatever it was, it didn’t work. I still procrastinated and sometimes, I didn’t do my work.

I didn’t understand my mom’s pain back then but I now realize that it must have been hard to try to help me find motivation.

It was only until a couple of days ago that I realized that one way you can help motivate someone is by helping them find passion in the small things.

I was listening to someone at my college talk about the different lessons they learned in the different jobs that they had.

They said that while they didn’t enjoy mining or learning how to drive a bus, they found passion in the little things.

When we can find something in the tasks that we are doing that brings joy and passion into our lives, we become more motivated to do that task.

While I still don’t like homework, I can find the tiny things that I like in each task and I can make myself motivated to do it.

Help them see progress

I’m not the type of person to see my own progress.

In fact, I will think that I am in the exact place that I was three years ago even though I have changed so much.

My mom has helped me to know that while I see myself being the exact same, she has seen me change and progress in all I do.

I don’t think that I would believe my mom if I didn’t know that she was trustworthy. I do trust her and so I believe that I am progressing.

And occasionally, I do see my progress.

For example, when I look at my blog back in September versus what it is today, I know that my writing, my voice, and what I want to share has changed for the better.

I have seen my progress.

Let them dream

I hope that one day I can make a real difference in people’s lives and maybe opportunities will come that will make an even more difference not only in the people around me but the world.

That is my dream.

It is something that I have wanted to do for some time now and even though it may not happen, it motivates me to work harder on the things that I am doing now so I can be better for if or when it happens.

We can do the same for the people we want to motivate.

First, have an open conversation about what they want to do in their lives. If it is sailing through space on a rocket ship or just doing well in a job that they are in then let them dream about that.

Then after the have dreamed about it in detail, tell them of the things they can do right now for that dream.

For me, it is learning how to write better. I can do that right now through the homework that I complete.

I may not like homework, but I will work my butt off if I know that it will help me fulfill my dream.

Conclusion

Motivation is hard. Everyone has felt it first hand.

When we don’t feel like doing something, it can feel like torture but when we have passion in anything we do and when we work hard for our dreams and commit to them, we can pick ourselves up from rock bottom and try again to achieve those dreams.

And maybe when we let others help us with those dreams, we can take the steps to achieve anything we set our minds to.

I want to show thanks to the writer for bailing me out of such a condition. As a result of looking throughout the online world and obtaining techniques which were not powerful, I was thinking my life was gone. Being alive without the presence of strategies to the issues you’ve solved by means of your main article content is a critical case, and the ones which might have in a negative way affected my entire career if I had not noticed the blog. Your personal understanding and kindness in touching the whole thing was precious. I don’t know what I would’ve done if I hadn’t come upon such a stuff like this. I am able to at this point look forward to my future. Thank you so much for this professional and amazing guide. I won’t be reluctant to endorse the sites to any individual who should have care about this subject matter.
