Three Ways You Can Become Motivated

I’m surprised by the motivation to do my blog every week.

When I first started writing my blog, I thought that it is only going to last a couple of weeks or months. I didn’t think that I would get to the point where I would be almost one year done with blogging.

Keeping up the motivation for this blog hasn’t been easy. There have been many times when I have told myself that skipping a week won’t matter. No one will care if I don’t write for just one week.

I remember a couple of months ago I thought about what would happen if I quit.

But the truth is that I care. I want this blog to be fantastic and I would be disappointed if I didn’t blog every week. I love it more than anything. I feel safe when I write and I know that I can let go of my fears.

I think it’s interesting that I have been able to have this motivation this whole time. How have I been able to do this? I’ve narrowed it down to three ideas: passion, a willingness for hard work, and commitment.

Passion

I have always been passionate about people and our experiences. When my dad first suggested that I use my passion for people for my blog I became excited.

This excitement made me curious as to what my blog was going to be like. This passion motivated me to get going and to keep on going.

My passion has also helped me to stay consistent.

If I feel like I don’t want to write a post, I motivate myself with my passion. I remind myself that I love this blog and I want to give this to my audience.

Willingness for hard work

I read a lot of blogs about blogging when I first started out.

Most of them that I read told me that it was going to be hard work. I laughed at this and thought that they were exaggerating. They were not.

In creating my site, I’m pretty sure my head blew up and I slept for three days after. When I first started writing my posts, I found it hard to be accurate in my spelling as well as my voice. After a while, I started getting better and having more success.

I learned that I needed hard work along with perseverance in order to make my blog work.

If I didn’t enjoy working hard, I would have never have lasted as long as I did with my blog.

Commitment

I don’t think that I would be able to do this blog without my commitment to the people reading.

In the beginning, the people who were reading my blog were my parents and my sisters. When they were reading, I didn’t need a commitment to write for them. I knew that it didn’t matter to them if I wrote my blog or not. At that point in time, it was more for me then it was for them.

But when I started to gain an audience, no matter how small, I felt like that there was someone out there who really cared about what I had to say and so I kept on going.

That commitment kept me going in times when it was tough and has helped me to stay consistent in my blog goals.

What I have learned from motivation so far is that it doesn’t come before everything starts. You have to start working and stay committed and passionate.

When you have those things then you will be able to enjoy the journey that you have committed yourself to and you will start to see yourself change and grow.
