How to Know When You Have True Learning

About a month ago, I was brainstorming with my dad about what I should write about during this month. One of the things that I thought would be interesting is knowing when you have truly learned.

I thought this was interesting because before thinking about this, I would have told you that there wasn’t a limit to what you could learn. Learning seems to be everlasting. There is too much to one subject to just be learned.

When researching the topic, I found that learning is ongoing but you can know when you have truly learned by teaching and by acting on your knowledge.

Teaching has been something that I have talked about on this blog recently. I have talked about what it means to be a good teacher, how to create a love of learning, and I have written about why teachers are important.

Truly knowing that you have learned can mean that you know how to teach it. From my last blog post, I believe that my roommate said it best when she said that a teacher is contently learning.

With constant learning and being able to teach that learning, people can know that they have truly learned that skill.

I have recently been trying to become a better leader. In order to do this I have been researching what attributes a leader has.

I was afraid during this time that when I would start leading, that I wouldn’t be able to have those attributes and I would end up not be a leader but a boss where I would dictate what I want to see instead of brainstorming what our group could become.

Then I asked one of my group members if I could meet with them and brainstorm what we could do to be more efficient.

We started coming up with ideas and started enacting it in our group. I felt like I started on a good path to become a leader.

Even though I haven’t learned all I can about being a leader and what it means, I have learned enough for me to be able to act on what I know.

Being able to teach and being able to act on that knowledge creates an opportunity to bring knowledge to the people that are around you and set and example of what true learning is and what it can become.
